Contracts worth SR 2.68 billion to carry out a number of university projects, including construction of science and engineering colleges were signed yesterday by Higher Education Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari. The contracts cover the construction of the College of Dentistry at University of Jazan (SR 159.8 million), College of Medicine at Baha University (SR 137.9 million) and College of Engineering in Dawadmi under Shaqra University (SR 151.7 million). The University of Taif won a number of new projects: College of Applied Medical Sciences (SR 114.2 million), College of Education (SR 85.7 million), College of Administrative and Financial Sciences (SR 85.58 million) and College of Community Service (SR 85 million). Speaking to reporters, Al-Anqari said the new projects were part of the second phase of university campus projects launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in May. Under the first phase, campus projects worth SR 81 billion were implemented, he added. The minister signed four contracts for Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah: College of Social Sciences and College of Dawa (SR 238.78 million), College of Education in Abidiya (SR 105.9 million) College of Computer Science and College of Art and Design (SR 194.8 million) and preparatory classrooms (SR 58.3 million). The minister signed five contracts for Dammam University: College of Computer Science (SR 69.8 million), medical colleges complex for girls and College of Education (SR 51.68 million), compound wall (SR 33.7 million), and a maintenance contract (SR 42.8 million). He signed four contracts worth SR 686 million for Qassim University. Al-Anqari also signed contracts for King Saud University campus security (SR 67.9 million), and water and sewage contracts for Majmaa and Shaqra universities at a total cost of SR 34 million, the SPA said.
