H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, headed today the second meeting of the council at Masdar in Abu Dhabi.

In the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah approved the minutes of previous meeting. The participants reviewed the work mechanism of the council.

They also reviewed 100-day work plan called for by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to speed delivery of services, identify challenges, set solutions and change government work into tangible action.

Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, briefed the attendants about challenges facing emiratisation in the private sector, and number of Emirati employees in the private and semi-government sector. He added that the next meeting would tackle the gaps between working in the private and government sectors.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, highlighted the aspects to be focussed on by the council during the next phase and rapid accomplishments that could be worked on, and how to encourage and attract citizens to work in the private sector, and follow up on various initiatives in the field of education and the labour market.

He also reviewed activation of partnerships with the private sector with respect to the education and human resources, including the recruitment of graduates of the education sector.

The participants referred to areas of co-operation between education and the labour market to provide required jobs for graduates of the sector, as well as establishment of the necessary partnership with the private sector to attract trained professionals and technicians in co-ordination with the Qualifications Authority and Higher Colleges of Technology.

The meeting was attended by Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hamadi, Minister of Education; Najla bint Mohammed Al Awar, Minister of Community Development; Jameela bint Salem Misbah Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education; Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, and Shamma bint Sohail bin Fares Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued a resolution setting up the Education and Human Resources Council to find quick solutions within the scope of education and bring it into line with the labour market.
