Manama - BNA

Works Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Waleed Al Saie revealed that the Ministry had completed the foundations for Busaiteen Intermediate School for Girls, belonging to the Ministry of Education and being funded by the Saudi Development Fund.
Work is presently underway to complete the first storey of the school building, where 39% progress has been achieved.
The Undersecretary was accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary for Building Construction & Maintenance Projects Eng. Mona Al Motawa, Construction Projects Director Eng. Wadeea Marzooq and a number of engineers from the Ministry.
Al Saie reiterated that implementation of the project and all other projects is to conform to principles of transparency and optimal use of resources allocated for this program, whose main aim is to serve people.
Busaiteen School Project is one in a string of projects presently implemented as part of the GCC Fund Program, all of which complement the development and urban boom in the Kingdom of Bahrain and accommodate people’s educational needs and requirements. The Ministry is supervising the implementation of 4 other schools whose implementation has already began with the support of the GCC Fund; namely Hamad Town Intermediate School for Boys, Hunainiya Secondary School for Boys, Malkiya Primary/Intermediate School for Girls and Isa Town Primary School for Boys. All projects reflect the Government’s and HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s keenness to closely follow-up infrastructure projects that are being implemented with the aid of the GCC Fund Program and the Kingdom’s public budgets.
‘The Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning has taken into consideration that all designs conform to the modern requirements of the Ministry of Education in relation to any new school design,’ said Al Saie.
A total area of 15.876m2 has been allocated for the BD4,402,800 project . The main school building comprises of a ground floor, 3 other floors and 30 classrooms and has a capacity of 1000 students. The school also includes multi-purpose laboratories for science, computer, home science and the library, in addition to offices for the teaching and administrative faculty, sports hall, other service facilities such as toilets, a guard room, canteen, electricity sub-station, control room and other related facilities.
The school building has been designed based on the latest MoE’s requirements, which include sustainability, green buildings and energy saving measures; such as thermal insulation for roofs and walls, double-glazing windows to reduce noise, sensor taps in bathrooms, acoustically insulated vinyl flooring, and paints with low volatile and anti-carbon organic compounds to paint walls internally and externally.
The design also takes into account providing all the facilities needed for students with special needs and pregnant women, such as constructing a special parking lot close to the main school entrance, providing slopes on all entrances, using non-slip vinyl flooring in all rooms, corridors and stairways, in addition to providing 4 elevators close to all entrances and toilets with a size that properly accommodates the needs of those students.
50 Parking spaces, a bus-stop and a waiting area for students are to be provided as well.
