The Kuwait Fund for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) hammered out Sunday an agreement for academic and research cooperation with the University of California (Berkeley) in a new step to enhance cooperation with the world's most prestigious academic institutions.
In a press statement, the KFAS stated that the agreement would serve the benefit of the University of Kuwait's students and teaching staff.
The agreement comes in support of a pilot program for a future Berkeley-based Contemporary Arab Cultures Studies Center, it said.
It noted that the pact would be a new addition to the scientific cooperation agreements signed previously with leading educational institutions such as the Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and Sciences Po.
The statement pointed out that as per the agreement, KFAS will support programs of teaching excellence which comprises holding six workshops to harness the teaching skills of Kuwait University lecturers; joint research; joint publishing of research papers; and vocational program for architecture engineering students at Kuwait University's College of Engineering.
