Minister of Education Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi said that the Ministry attaches great importance to developing the sector of technical and vocational education.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi said that the Ministry continues to develop curricula and upgrade the standard of on-the-job training in cooperation with partners in the national and private establishments and companies and also avails from international expertise in these aspects in order to achieve maximum compatibility between educational outputs and the increasingly-growing needs of the labour market in terms of highly-qualified, well-trained technical national workforce.
These remarks as the Minister launched the second nationwide skills contest at the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Technology Institute.
More than 250 contestants partake in the contest from the age group 16-21. The contest's arbitration panel includes 103 experts in all 16 skills comprising the contest.
The contest aims to discover innovative youthful energies in technical and industrial skills, and marketing excellent works locally and abroad. The contest will also select the team which will represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in international skills contests which will be hosted in Sao Paolo, Brazil in August 2015. The selected team will undergo a training and programme comprising 180 hours of training in order to quality for the upcoming international contest.
