Manama - BNA

Tamkeen signed two separate agreements with Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco) and Six Pence Corporate Solutions to train 236 Bahrainis employed at the two companies. The signings are the latest to come under Tamkeen's Career Progression Programme, which seeks to enhance the capabilities and skills of Bahrainis to make them employees of choice in the private sector. The training programme offered to these employees have been designed based on specific skills gaps determined by the employers, and including such aspects as administration, sales, logistics, and technical support., with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of the employees and enabling them to take on more senior roles in their organisations, as well as improving the performance of the enterprises in which they work. 86 employees from Cineco and 150 from 6 Pence will benefit from the programme. The Career Progression Programme helps employers address skill gaps of their Bahraini employees by providing these employees with high-quality training opportunities to gain the necessary skills, leading to accelerated career growth and leadership opportunities within their enterprises. In addition to the training, beneficiaries receive a wage increase ranging from BD50 to BD100 on their basic salary depending on the training track selected by the employer. The wage increase is subsidised by Tamkeen for a maximum of 2 years. Commenting on the agreement, Tamkeen’s Acting Vice President, Human Capital Development, Mrs. Amal Al-Kooheji, said: "Ever since its launch, demand by employers for the Career Progression Programme has been steadily increasing thanks to its unique approach which features a dual benefit for the employees and enterprise. We are pleased to announce these two agreements, and look forward to serving more beneficiaries through the programme." Cineco CEO Mr. Ahmed Abdulrahman Rashed commented, ""It is our pleasure to sign with Tamkeen and enroll our employees in the Career Progression Program flagship which we expect will deliver to them world-class training and human capital development. We look forward to a fruitful and long-term relationship with Tamkeen." Also commenting on the agreement, 6 Pence Group Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Al-Basry stated, "Tamkeen provides the private sector with diverse and comprehensive products that develop Bahrain’s human capital and enterprises. As such, we decided to benefit from Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme which focuses on training and developing Bahraini employees and advancing their careers and wages through a well-structured and monitored scheme. We thank Tamkeen for such productive and creative initiatives that greatly benefit the private sector in our beloved Kingdom." Launched in 2007, the Career Progression Programme has served more than 12,000 Bahraini beneficiaries to date from 482 companies across all sectors, with a total Tamkeen contribution of about BD 23 million. According to Tamkeen's 2013 Operational Plan, the Career Progression Programme is set to serve an additional 20,000 Bahrainis. Employers wishing to benefit from this programme can visit Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme Office, located on the 3rd Floor of Nuetel Building in Amwaj Islands, or contact Tamkeen's Customer Service Center on 17383333 or email Info.cpp@tamkeen.bh.
