In line with the directives of Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi, the Education Ministry, in cooperation with the Works Ministry, started allocating more school bus stops for students close to main residential blocks in Muharraq, as a first step. Head of the Transportation Department at the Education Ministry’s Services Directorate Abdul Wahab Al Dhawadi said the ministry is working on meeting the safety requirements in these bus stops. The move is made after a comprehensive study was conducted by the ministries’ joint committee, it was revealed. After a comprehensive survey in all the kingdom’s governorates, the Education Ministry found out that over 1200 school bus stops are needed nationwide, Al Dhawadi explained. The Education Ministry and the Works Ministry are working on developing those bus stations by providing them with seats and protective shelters, he added. More than 43,000 students are being transported back and forth by the Education Ministry in 650 buses, enjoying maximum level of safety, throughout the academic year.
