Abu Dhabi - WAM

The Abu Dhabi University recently signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Abu Dhabi which allows both parties to collaborate in making higher education accessible to high achieving students of Yemeni nationality. The agreement provides Yemeni students who enroll in any of Abu Dhabi University's bachelor programmes offered during the upcoming academic year 2013 - 2014 with a 30% waiver on tuition fees provided they achieve a 95% cumulative average on their high school grade. The agreement was signed by Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, and Abdulhakim Al-Eryani, Charge d'Affaires at the Yemen Embassy, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties. Commenting on the importance of this partnership, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, explained that it reflects the University's strategy in education, scientific research and community engagement, as well as highlighting the University's keenness in strengthening aspects of cooperation with organisations in both the public and private sectors. "As per the agreement, the University will provide at least 30 Yemeni students, nominated through the Embassy, with a 30% waiver on tuition fees when enrolling in any of the ADU's undergraduate programmes starting from the upcoming academic year 2013 - 2014. This unique opportunity will apply to Yemeni students who have scored a cumulative GPA in high school of 95% or above and a minimum score of 5.0 in IELETS. In addition to a waiver of up to 20% of tuition fees for students who obtained an average high school grade ranging from 90% to 94.9%", explained Dr. Ibrahim. He pointed out that students have to continue their hard work and outstanding academic achievements to maintain the tuition waiver by ensuring a minimum GPA of at least 3.00 and a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. "Our partnership with the Yemeni Embassy allows us the opportunity to cooperate in the field of education and training, and is also designed to drive students towards academic excellence", concluded Dr. Ibrahim. Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Eryani praised this partnership, as it will contribute to enhancing aspects of cooperation with ADU through offering high achieving Yemeni students the opportunity to pursue their bachelor degree at ADU, one of the prestigious higher education institutes in the UAE.
