Doha - QNA

World Innovation Summit for Education has announced 30 new outstanding young people to join the Learners’ Voice program during its four summit to be held in Doha next month. The 2012 WISE Learners were selected from hundreds of applications and nominations that were submitted in June from around the world. WISE Learners’ Voice brings the views of students to the issue of rethinking education. The program builds their advocacy skills to ensure that leaders and decision makers hear their voice, and it supports their growth as change-makers in education. The third group of Learners, from 24 countries, consists of very diverse profiles. They will be present at WISE 2012 which will be held between November 13 and November 15, where they will join the 2011 Learners to report from the Summit through video interviews and blogs, and to take part in debates, workshops and a forum session. The current Learners’ Voice community consists of 48 Learners aged 18 to 25 who were recruited in 2010 and 2011. They are from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, and from all around the world. They share a passion for education, and together they represent the unique perspective of the learning community in WISE. The WISE Learners who were selected in 2011 have been working as a multinational team throughout the year on the theme Increasing Access to Relevant, Quality Education for All Learners through Innovation. Seven groups investigated access to education at various levels, including early childhood education and lifelong learning. To inform their research, several 2011 Learners participated in key global events during the year as the Learning Without Frontiers (LWF) in London, Technology in Higher Education (THE) Conference in Qatar and India Youth Forum held in India.
