US President Barack Obama broke the Guinness world record Monday for the "fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Twitter," according to Huffington Post.
Obama finally got his own Twitter account, which will feature tweets exclusively from the president. The account, @POTUS, reached 1 million followers within five hours of its launch, according to Guinness World Records. The account will be inherited by the next president in 2016.
A time-lapse graphic from Twitter shows just how quickly the president amassed followers from around the world.
The record was previously held by actor Robert Downey Jr., who reached 1 million followers in a little less than 24 hours after joining Twitter in April 2014.
