Fox News and Fox Business were dropped from Dish Network Saturday after they couldn't reach an agreement on distribution.
Dish is accusing Fox of using the contract negotiations to try and leverage fees for sports and entertainment channels with no relation to the Fox News and Fox Business agreements.
"It's like we're about to close on a house and the realtor is trying to make us buy a new car as well," said Warren Schlichting, Dish's senior vice president of programming.
Fox said their terms were customary for their distribution renewal and other providers are willing to step up.
"We will continue to work around the clock to reach an agreement with Dish," said Tim Carry, an executive vice president at Fox News. "This is the third time in as many months that Dish customers have suffered through a blackout due to Dish's intransigence."
Fox News started the website, www.keepfoxnews.com which lists a toll free number that directs Dish customers to other service providers. Callers reported the number transferred them to Dish for "disconnect" since 6 a.m. Sunday.
