Chinese embassy in London launched its Wechat and Facebook accounts on Wednesday, in an effort to improve consular services and strengthen China-Britain relationship.
"Social media is becoming a new platform for China's public diplomacy," said Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming in the opening ceremony held in Chinese embassy in London.
The embassy's social media platforms will offer assistance to overseas Chinese, which will greatly help Chinese nationals living, working or studying in the Britain, he said.
They will reach out to the public with the latest and authoritative information about China-Britain relations and will be the best source of news, events, facts and figures of the latest development of China-Britain relations, he added.
"These social media platforms are good way to strengthen the popular support for the relations between our two country's and this is an ideal way to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of our tow countries," he said.
