The fire that broke out at the Ostankino television centre on Tuesday evening has been extinguished, nobody has been hurt, a representative of the fire fighting headquarters told Itar-Tass at the scene. The press service of the television centre confirmed this information to Itar-Tass. It said that broadcasting of the Public Television of Russia (OTR) has been suspended for some time because of the incident, however, the TV channel has now resumed its transmissions. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) stressed that according to preliminary data, there were no injuries, but EMERCOM officers continue checks. The fire spread to an area of about 150 square metres. The television centre’s single technical control office told Itar-Tass that the fire started in a two-level room, the so-called paint shop, where the scenery for filming TV shows is stored.
