The National Council for (NCW) lashed out at remarks made by TV presenter Amr Adeeb in his "Cairo Today" program in which he declined the couples sharing in accomplishing housework and rejected the idea of gender equality.
In a statement released on Sunday, NCW voiced astonishment over Adeeb's remarks, noting that he should rather be one of the leading figures in the society that contribute to making a change in the society ideology.
The statement also said Egyptian women have amazed the whole world through their participation in two great revolutions of January 25 and June 30.
Women participation in the vote on the 2014 referendum on constitution, presidential elections as well as New Suez Canal project surpassed men in unprecedented rates, read the statement
NCW urged a change in the negative image of women, noting that such ideas could squander the achievements and rights made by women over it history of struggle and after they were given fair share in 2014 constitution
