Entertainment Weekly has revealed Lady Gaga's look for American Horror Story: Hotel.
The 29-year-old singer posed in character for the magazine's latest issue ahead of her debut on the FX show. Series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the star will play an Elizabeth of Bathory-inspired role in light of Lady Gaga's blood-red pool party this month.
"I prefer the term 'ancient blood virus' [to vampirism]. It's really a form of hemophilia in a way," he said of the character in the interview. The real-life Hungarian countess was accused of killing hundreds of young women in 1610, and is said to have bathed in blood in an attempt to retain her youth.
Lady Gaga will portray the modern-day Countess, who owns the Cortez Hotel referenced in the show's title. Murphy previously revealed the singer will play an "evil" character whose nefarious agenda plays out throughout the season.
"I've just been weeping while I'm here because I have returned to something I've believed in so much, which is the art of darkness," Lady Gaga shared. "It's not something that everyone understands, but, for the people that do -- Horror Story fans, my fans -- there is a true connection between us, and it's a language within itself."
