As part of its development projects outlined in its Media Strategy, the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) today inaugurated the Quran Channel, the International Channel and the new logo of Bahrain TV channels, marking the kingdom's celebrations of the National and Accession Days. On this occasion, IAA President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the rapid development steps are the outcome of the support enjoyed by the media sector during the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in line with the goals set by the government. He also asserted that the two new channels and the Bahrain HD, inaugurated recently, have been provided with the latest technology in order to upgrade satellite broadcasting and keep pace with cutting-edge digital revolution so as to meet the viewers' expectations, adding that the Bahrain bouquet now includes up to six channels, including Bahrain TV (the main channel), Bahrain 55 (broadcasting in English), International Channel, Bahrain Sport 1, Bahrain Sport 2 and the Quran channel. Sheikh Fawaz explained that the Quran Channel's programmes will promote the principles of the Islamic religion and spread the cultures of respect for religious beliefs and tolerance. Concerning, the Bahrain International Channel, IAA President said it will be dedicated to broadcasting a selection of the best programmes of the Bahrain TV bouquet, and will cover all national functions and events live, stressing that all its programmes will focus on national identity. He also noted that a specialized crew has been recruited to take care of the technical matters of the HD Channel, adding that transmission will cover parts of Europe and expand later to America. Concluding his statement, Shaikh Fawaz pledged that IAA will continue developing its work systems and mechanisms in order to cope with the accelerating world technical developments.
