Washington - UPI

News organizations suffered a further decline in perceptions of credibility, a Pew Research Center for People and the Press survey, released Monday, says. The survey from the non-partisan, Washington-based research organization rated 13 news outlets, from "60 Minutes" to the "daily newspaper you know best," and concluded the average positive believability rating was 56 percent, down from 62 percent in 2010 and 72 percent in 2002. "Local TV news" was the most trusted of the organizations in the survey, with a 65 percent positive rating. Fox News and USA Today each had a 49 percent positive rating, the lowest. A more negative view of news media credibility was noted more among Republicans than Democrats, the survey said. The telephone survey of 1,001 respondents was taken in July, and has a margin of error of 3.6 percent.
