Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Wednesday it was important that the press did not ignore the ethical rules of the profession while fulfilling duties freely, unbiased and objectively. Freedom of press and expression are inseparable elements of democracy, Erdogan said in his press feast message on July 24. "Press, admitted as an important public power in developed democracies, can affect and incline the society widely. It's important that country's interests, public order, societal dynamics and ethical rules, the profession wanted are not disregarded while the press fulfills its duties freely, unbiased and objectively, which is significant." Parallel to Turkey's change in democratization and human rights, important reforms have been verified, Erdogan stated, adding his greetings for 105th anniversary of removal of press censorship.
