Moscow demands Kiev to investigate the death of a Russian journalist in eastern Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
"We demand that the Ukrainian authorities conduct an objective investigation of this tragedy and properly punish those guilty," the ministry added that "we expect global media to resolutely and unambiguously condemn the regular crime of the Ukrainian military. "
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Facebook that " those who call themselves the authorities" of Ukraine are to blame for the journalist's death.
The Russian journalist, Igor Kornelyuk, who worked for the All- Russia State Television and Radio Company (VGTRK), was confirmed dead after being injured in mortar fire by Ukrainian troops near Lugansk, Ukraine, the VGTRK said.
One of Kornelyuk's two companions, Viktor Denisov, escaped unharmed, while the other one, Anton Voloshin, was injured, according to the VGTRK.
