Manama - Arab Today

The first edition of the Parliamentary Media Award has been officially launched. The prize will be awarded to the best newspaper, journalist, columnist, photographer and social media website covering the parliamentary activities.

Parliament Secretary-General Abdulla bin Khalaf Al-Dosari announced the 2017 edition, which aims at encouraging media talents and all other audio lingual mass media. He stressed keenness on implementing the directives of the Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla to promote positive and constructive communication with the media community in Bahrain.

Parliament Communication director Mohammed Al-Qouti said that the award acknowledges the crucial role of journalists, press and media enterprises and social media websites in covering legislative activities. He said that a jury panel comprising academic personalities and media specialists has been set up to assess the entries, urging those wishing to participate to contact the directorate of communication to fill in the forms and get informed about the award rules and regulations.
