NSA Ombudsman investigation into terror suspect's allegations
Manama - Arab Today

The Independent Ombudsman for the National Security Agency (NSA) met the husband of Ebtisam Al Saegh. The purpose of the meeting was to give an update on the ongoing investigation being conducted by the NSA Ombudsman regarding the allegations of mistreatment and sexual assault circulating in the media.

The investigation was opened proactively by the NSA Ombudsman as a part of his office’s mandate to investigate claims of a violation or an act of misconduct against NSA Personnel. As part of his ongoing investigation into the case, the NSA Ombudsman dispatched investigators and commenced interviews with relevant parties. The investigators are also tasked with gathering and reviewing documents and material such as arrest records, statements, and CCTV footage from the point of arrest onwards.

The NSA Ombudsman stated that such allegations, if founded, will result in strict adherence the law and guidelines governing professional behaviour, including applicable procedures to ensure accountability, disciplinary or criminal.

For his part, her husband expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by the NSA and their Ombudsman.
