Months after his demise, Kuwait's journalism Icon Sulaiman Al-Fahad and his success story remain a source of inspiration for fellow journalists and historians. "Sulaiman Al-Fahad writings have left indelible mark on Kuwaiti journalism and culture," Journalist Mohammad Al-Sanousi said during an event to celebrate the publication of two new books for late Al-Fahad. "His books and articles will be remembered for long time." Al-Sanousi lauded the impressive approach of late Al-Fahad in writing historic books. "He was very cleaver in employing his literary and artistic talents in documenting the important stages of Kuwaiti history," he said. Ghanem Al-Najjar expressed similar admiration of Al-Fahad's legacy. "He had successfully documented the ordeal of Kuwait people during the Iraqi occupation in 1990." Al-Fahad has played an important role in covering the Iraqi occupation and Kuwaiti people resistance to it. He has launched "Al-Sarkha" or "The Cry" Magazine during the occupation and "26 February" Magazine after the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. He also documented the occupation and liberation in two books. "His patriotic and Arab nationalist spirit was spectacularly also reflected in his writings," Journalist Waleed Al-Musallam said. Al-Musallam unveiled that he was putting the final touches on a new book to include all of Al-Fahad's articles to be published soon. Al-Fahad, considered one of the brightest icons of the Kuwaiti journalism and one its pioneers, died on June 9, 2013 at the age of 75. He was born in 1938 in the Murqab town in Kuwait. He completed his elementary, preparatory and secondary education in Kuwait then travelled to Damascus in 1958 to study at the Teachers House. He finished his studies in Damascus and joined Ain Shams University in Egypt and got his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology in 1966. Al-Fahad loved writing since he was a child. He was a regular columnist in the major Kuwaiti newspapers. He wrote several books.
