Doha Film Institute (DFI), Qatar’s independent cultural organization that brings the country’s film initiatives under one umbrella, has launched the ‘Transmedia’ workshop series, which aims to strengthen local talent and open doors to innovative filmmaking techniques and adopting the newest and emerging story-telling platforms.DFI will conduct three Transmedia workshops, each spanning across four days starting from April 15th to 18th, giving participants the opportunity to create their own ‘Transmedia’ projects by providing insights into the ‘Storyworld Principle,’ and gradually strengthening their skills to master cross-platform narratives. The second workshop will be held between May 2nd to 4th, during which participants will expand their logline and underline the scope of experience of the audience’s role. Finally the third workshop will be held from June 7th to 9th where individuals will investigate whether their storyworld can be told in real time. The workshops will be tutored by Julian McCrea, Founder of Portal Entertainment, a cross-platform production company, and Mike Jones an award-winning writer and media producer.“As the mediums to capture and narrate stories evolve, it is important that filmmakers and film enthusiasts understand and adopt the newer platforms. Through the ‘Transmedia Workshop Series’ we will connect filmmakers with the innovative channels developed by their generation, and provide them the opportunity to deliver their own narratives to a wider audience,” Mahdi Ali Ali, manager of DFI’s Gulf Film Development, said in a press release issued Wednesday. The ‘Transmedia Workshop’ series will be open to a maximum of 30 participants and will be held from 6:30pm to 9pm
