Meeting
Beijing - KUNA

Chinese officials have underlined significance of the Kuwaiti-Chinese relations, affirming necessity of bolstering these ties at various levels particularly in the media sector.
Guo Yezhou, a senior official of the Chinese Community Party, emphasized during a series of meetings with KUNA's Deputy Director-General for Editorial Affairs, Saad Al-Ali, support of the Chinese Community Party's Executive Committee for boosting the media cooperation between the two countries.
Yezhou, who is the deputy director of the external affairs department of the party's central committee, welcomed desire of KUNA's officials to open a bureau in China, noting that such a step would open up new horizons for enhancing the bilateral relations, vowing that his department would facilitate needed measures for this move.
Opening an office for Kuwait News Agency in the nation will substantiate the solid ties bonding the two friendly countries at various levels, Yezhou stated.
Elaborating, the Chinese official noted last June's visit to China by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was politically and economically substantial.
China was among the first nations that had established diplomatic relations with Kuwait, Yezhou added. The two countries set up ambassadorial-level ties on March 22, 1971.
For her part, Jiang Xiaojuan, the director of the foreign ministry's media department, also lauded KUNA's intention to establish a bureau in China, saying that such a move would "crown the bilateral ties," also noting the support in her personal capacity, as well as the whole department staff, for elevating the ties to higher levels.
Such a step on KUNA's part will complement the Kuwait-China distinctive economic and diplomatic relations, thus opening new horizons for media exchange, she said, noting that Beijing has been seeking to enhance information swap with nations of the globe through a policy of openness.
Mrs. Cui Yuying, the deputy secretary of media affairs, echoed identical notions, affirming the approach to provide all possible facilities on the path of opening a KUNA bureau here.
Al-Ali expressed gratitude to the Chinese officials for the warm hospitality for himself and the accompanying delegation and voiced satisfaction for the understanding he sensed on part of the officials for backing the Kuwaiti news agency's plan to launch the network service in the nation.
The approach to have an office here has been adopted due to China's major weight at the economic, commercial, political and media levels, Al-Ali added, also noting that such a step would be initial move toward boosting cultural exchanges between the two sides.
