The Head of Elections Media Committee also member of the Executive Commission on Municipal, Parliamentary Elections 2014 Mohammed Al-Mejbil affirmed the readiness of all 52 polling stations under the supervision of at least 56 magistrates to ensure highest transparency and honesty levels.
Al-Mejbil told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that the Preparatory Committee has finished all preparations and pledged all of its potentials to ensure that smooth voting takes place at all polling stations in addition to taking all actions which boost the people's participation in the elections.
He urged citizens to comply with the relevant instructions for a smooth election process and effective participation in the upcoming political process which is considered a day of national unity and the people's willpower. He pointed out that the procedures will include two-hours extension of time to enable voters to cast their ballots in the municipal elections to become from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm instead of previously announced 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
He said that smartcards are sufficient to vote as foreigners can vote in in the municipal election - but passport is a must to vote in the parliamentary election. In case, a voter's passport has been given to the Passports Directorate at the Interior Ministry to obtain an exit visa, the voter can request issuance of a card which certifies that he/she has a Bahraini passport in order to be able to excerise his right in voting in the elections.
He added that electoral campaigns should stop 24 hours before actual start of voting process in the elections and contenders campaign tent should keep at least 200 metres' distance away from the constituency's Polling Station.
