Independent crash test specialist Euro NCAP, has awarded the BMW 3 Series, Hyundai i30, Mazda CX-5 and Peugeot 208 its full, five-star rating for safety. The BMW 3Series achieved an impressive 95 per cent adult safety rating and a 78 per cent pedestrian score. It also scored highly for child safety, at 84 per cent. CarBuyer's 2012 Car of the Year, the Hyundai i30, was awarded a 90 per cent score for both adults and children, plus 67 per cent for pedestrian safety. The Mazda CX-5 scored 94 per cent for adult safety and 87 per cent for children, as well as 64 per cent for pedestrians. Finally, the Peugeot 208 was awarded an 88 per cent rating for adults and 78 per cent for children. Pedestrian safety was measured at 61 per cent.
