It's been a big day for Elon Musk. First, his company, SpaceX, launched a rocket into space on a mission to resupply the International Space Station. Next, another of Musk's companies did something that many thought was even more improbable--Tesla has scheduled customer deliveries of its first sedan, the Tesla Model S. In an extremely exclamation point-intensive blog post by Tesla exec George Blankenship, the firm announced that the first Model S production cars will be delivered to “Reservation Holders” on “June 22!!!” Details are a little thin as to how many Model S buyers will receive their cars, but Blankenship claims that Tesla is “ahead of schedule.” The OMG!!!-level excitement doesn't stop there. Apparently, something called Tesla Fashion Island hosted four Model S Beta testers at a “Signature – Four Color” event a few weeks ago, and “It was great!” Beta test examples of the Model S—which Tesla just calls Model S, no “the”—will also be appearing at promotional events in White Plains, N.Y., and in five Canadian cities. Quick, name 5 Canadian cities. Most of the remainder of the blog post is spent detailing the various ways to customize “YOUR” Model S. The degree to which regenerative braking—Tesla calls it Regen—slows the car when the accelerator is released? Customizable! Steering resistance? Customizable! Ride height? Customizable! If the recent shuttering of Crazedlist left you craving the ALL CAPS! excitement of a good Craigslist ad, you can check out the blog post here. We will post an update when the first cars are delivered. Until then, we'll be hoping that Blankenship's excitement is well-founded.
