The revised tenth generation of the Nissan Sunny was launched regionally on Thursday. The Nissan Sunny is one of the most popular Nissan models in the region with the highest selling volumes in the GCC. "Nissan leads C-segment sales across the GCC and with the introduction of the All-New Nissan Sunny we hope to strengthen that position. Its look, quality feel, performance and standard equipment present an exceptionally high standard for a vehicle in this class which we expect to attract buyers from a broader audience than its predecessor," said Syed Ahmad, general manager of marketing at Nissan Middle East. There are 450,000 Sunny cars on GCC roads. According to Arabian Automobiles, the number one Nissan distributor in the UAE, the country represents 30 per cent of the Nissan market. The growth for our Nissan has been fantastic. We are leading the market in terms of growth. We achieved more than 20 per cent growth in 2011 over 2010. In our pre-owned market we have doubled our sales in 2011," said Michel Ayat, CEO of Arabian Automobiles. More space The new Nissan Sunny boasts larger interior space with an interior volume of 2,549 litres and trunk volume of 490 litres (3,039 litres total). The biggest dimensional gain is the increase in trunk length provided by a more compact engine and transmission design that allows for a 69mm increase in rear overhang (the distance from the centre of the rear tyre to the rear bumper). The car also comes fitted with Bluetooth hands-free phone capability with steering wheel control, rear comfort fan (first in class), integrated LED turn signals in-door mirror and rear parking sensors.
