Codenamed KH, the K9 luxury sedan will initially launch in South Korea but is expected to make it overseas. Last seen in sketch form codename KH, Kia's new flagship sedan has now been revealed via these official images.Set to be called the K9 in South Korea where it will be launched in the first half of this year, the new flagship is Kia's first RWD sedan slotting above the K5 (Optima) and K7 (Cadenza)."K9 is our first rear-wheel drive large sedan, created without compromise in its design, driving performance and new technologies."K9 sets a whole new level of standards and values in the large sedan segment, and its design will be another Kia demonstration of our brand's power to surprise the world," said Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Overseas Marketing Group. With an 'imposing and characterful' front end, the 'high-tech luxury sedan' is elegant but not in a European sense, which is understandable given the car will initially be exclusively for the South Korean market.Kia's signature grille dominates the front-end with large headlights and alloys, while at the rear the car is distinguished by its chrome detailing.Designed by Kia's Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, the K9 is based on the Hyundai Genesis so engine options are likely to include a 3.8-liter V6 with 333hp, a 4.6-liter V8 with 385hp and a 5.0-liter V8 that develops 429hp.The range-topping K9 (KH) will make its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and depending on the reception, Kia may firm up its plans to export the car worldwide with a North American launch first on their list.
