His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the President of the Royal Equestrian and Endurance Race Federation took the initiative by contributing his own-designed-and-built a sports motorcar now exhibited at the Scientific Center in association with the Ministry of Social Development as part of the weekly activities and events organized by the Center Scientific. It was His Highness's first hand-made motorcar which he had designed as part of the requirements of his physics course of study when he was an 11th Grade student in (Ibn Khaldoon National School) under the supervision of his physics teachers. His Highness designed the two-seater which features manual shift transmission gearbox driven by a 1.4 liter Toyota Hilux engine. The car features automated remote-controlled doors and a camera on the backside acts a rear mirror. The car engine operates with a standard ignition key. The body comprises tempered glass, thermal sheets and 18-inch radius chromium-plated tires and a spare tire attached in the back. The body and engine of the sports car consist of light valve, TV screen, CD/DVD. The car has a 3-dimensional muffling system. The invention of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa features its unique design and provides as an example to be followed by creative and inventive researchers in the Scientific Center. The Scientific Center organizes weekly activities and events intended which boost public awareness regarding the importance of science and technology; and, encourages curious inventive minds seeking scientific knowledge.(IY) There is a general discussion forum on issues of science and technology. The topics discussed at the Scientific Center include engineering fairs for kids, human health, the five senses, earth science and biodiversity.
