The number of private cars that were licensed in 2015 hit 4.43 million nationwide compared to 7.8 million in 2014, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Sunday.
The figure represents 51.4 percent of the total vehicles that were licensed in Egypt in 2015.
Some 1.2 million trucks and trailers and 137,000 buses were licensed in 2015, according to CAPMAS bulletin of licensed vehicles.
As many as 14,548 road accidents were reported in 2015 against 14,403 ones in the year before.
