A woman walking her dog found a foot-long corn snake in the middle of a street in Stonehaven, a small town in northeast Scotland. The woman thought the snake was a rubber toy until it moved, BBC Scotland reported. Corn snakes are a non-venomous species found in the United States from Florida north to New Jersey and west to Texas. Their coloring and markings make them a favorite to snake fanciers. Sam Hutchison of the Kirkton Veterinary Center said the species is "a bit unusual" in Aberdeen. "It gave her a bit of a shock," he said. "It looks healthy -- it's either escaped or been dumped. We will try to find who owns this snake."
