Sharjah - Arabstoday

Sharjah recorded 43°C maximum temperature on Thursday, with other cities also crossing 40°C. Friday will be hot to very hot and hazy during the daytime but partly cloudy at times in the eastern areas. Light to moderate winds will freshen at times in the afternoon and evening, blowing dust over the internal and western areas. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman with waves rising to 2-4ft offshore. Saturday will similarly have hot and hazyweather during the daytime. Light to moderate winds will blow dust over some internal and western areas, the NCMS said. The internal areas will be hotter than the coastal areas with temperatures ranging from 40 to 45°C. Hot and hazy days have been predicted in the coming days. The weather conditions will remain the same till Monday, according to National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). However, southeasterly winds after passing over the Empty Quarter will become dry. The winds will be light to moderate and freshen at times, blowing dust over the eastern interior areas. The wind while passing over desert will pick up heat so it will be dry. Dehydration is one of the ailments related to summer and doctors have advised to drink more water and juices of fruits like watermelon to keep the body hydrated. Skin specialist at Doctors Clinic in Dubai, Dr P Satish Kumar and ENT Specialist Dr Chithra Shamsudeen in Sharjah spoke about illnesses caused by exposure to sun. “To know if you have dehydration or not look at the colour of your urine. The yellow colour of urine in summer is a symptom of dehydration,” said Dr Satish Kumar. He said that people should protect their skin from ultra violet rays by using sunscreens. Extra exposure to sun rays can even cause skin cancer. Urinary stones are another problem people might face in summer. Drinking more water can help in preventing this complication, he said.
