Sharjah - Arabstoday

Wednesday was the hottest day so far this season in Sharjah and elsewhere in the UAE as a maximum of 38°C was recorded. There will be no rain in the next couple of days and it could be even hotter during the weekend, the weather office said. According to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), Wednesday was partly cloudy and hazy in general with another rise in day temperatures. Moderate to fresh southerly winds blew dust and sand over the interior and open land areas and reduced horizontal visibility. The sea was rough in general, the NCMS said. The same weather is expected on Thursday. Friday will be hotter in general and hazy during the daytime. The southerly winds will be moderate to fresh and blow dust and sand. The clouds will increase over the islands and western areas on Friday morning. The sea will be rough in general, the NCMS said. However, the real summer is still one month away, according to meteorologists. The southerly wind that carried dust and sand from the desert increased the feeling of heat and residents took it to be the start of summer. Chairman of Adco Astronomy Club and member of Abu Dhabi Heritage Group Mohamed Talib Al Salami and other meteorology experts in the UAE said that the weather might take a U-turn in the coming days. “Therefore, we cannot say that summer has started. The real summer will start on May 1,” Al Salami said. “We have seen continuous changes in the weather during the past days. There were hot as well as rainy days. The same weather pattern may persist in the coming days.”
