A number of strong storms have hit the West Coast in recent weeks, causing flooding, downed trees, and power outages in California, Oregon and Washington. Northern California has been the worst hit since the storms started Tuesday, Accuweather.com reported. Some of the heaviest rainfall totals in California include 17.5 inches in Petrolia, 15.16 inches at Oak Mountain, and 12.55 inches at Secret Town. Strong winds -- as high as 150 mph at Mammoth Mountain -- have also been reported during this series of storms. Along with intense wind, higher elevations in California, as well as Oregon and Washington have also gotten snow. Kirkwood Ski Resort in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California received 22 inches and the Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort saw a total of 19 inches in the past 5 days. Meanwhile, precipitation has been predicted for the area for the next 3-5 days. Another 2-4 inches of rain will fall from the coast of California northward to the northern Washington coast. Snowfall on the order of another 1-3 feet will fall in the mountains. The harsh weather will continue to cause widespread travel disruptions through Wednesday, Accuweather said.
