A climate summit for a Living Himalayas Bhutan 2011 is to be held in Bhutan from Nov. 19. According to Friday's the National News Agency RSS, the summit is organized in order to discuss food security in the Himalayan region, protection of natural water resources and solar power in the perspective of the impact of climate change. Speaking at a press conference organized by the World Wildlife Fund, Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Krishna Gyawali said the summit aims to ensure the rights of the millions of people who rely on such heritage in the Himalayan region. Deliberations shall also be held on the sustainable use of bio- diversity, food security and habitation, protection of natural pure water and solar power, he added. Heads of Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal are scheduled to attend the summit that will endorse a clear action plan following discussion on the theme issues, said WWF Nepal Representative Tariq Aziz. Officials from the four countries are also scheduled to discuss about common solution to the problems in the Himalayas and future strategy to resolve them, it is stated.
