Bangladesh's mobile phone subscribers reached more than 109 million at the end of August with about 12 million new users in the first eight months of this year, official data showed Monday. According to Bangladesh's Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the total number of cell phone users in the South Asian country of more than 153 million people reached 109. 349 million at the end of August 2013. The latest BTRC data showed the number of subscribers of the country's six cellphone operators -- Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Airtel, Citycell, Teletalk -- at the end of August stood at 45.267 million, 27.694 million, 24.966 million, 7.969 million, 1. 338 million and 2.117 million respectively. Bangladesh's cell phone companies sold nearly 12 million new connections in 2012, raising the country's total subscribers to 97. 18 million by the end of December, showed the BTRC data.
