Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom’s representatives will visit the Turkish Energy Ministry in the capital Ankara on Tuesday to discuss price revisions on natural gas sales to Turkey.
Turkey previously asked for a discount from Russia on the sale of natural gas last month. Gazprom’s Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev announced that Gazprom was working on a detailed price package in line with the discount request from Turkey.
Gazprom Export CEO Elena Burmistrova will also visit Ankara on Tuesday along with Medvedev.
Turkey imported some 45 billion cubic meters of gas in 2013, including 26.6 billion cubic meters from Russia.
The capacity increase plan for the Blue Stream gas pipeline will be among the topics which will be discussed Tuesday.
Turkey and Gazprom agreed in October to annually increase the capacity of the Blue Stream by three billion cubic meters. The pipeline currently carries 16 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Turkey via the Black Sea.
