The number of electricity and water accounts at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recorded a remarkable increase in all customer segments by the end of the 2nd quarter of 2014. Electricity and water accounts totalled 698,285 by the end of June 2014, compared to 668,762 during the same period of last year, a growth of about 4.5%.
"This net growth rate is rather good as DEWA removes cancelled accounts or accounts that are no longer in use due to demolishing of old buildings or any other reasons, from the total consumption account numbers. The net number of new accounts added during this period is 29,523 new accounts," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
"The number of electricity accounts grew to 662,801 by the end of June 2014 compared to 636,960 by the end of June 2013. The number of water accounts increased to 591,059 by the end of the second quarter of 2014 compared to 565,558 meters during the same period last year," added Al Tayer
