Abu Dhabi - WAM

The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) announced the commissioning and inauguration of the Dh130 million power plant in Umm Al Qaiwain, as part of the federal government plans for expansion of transmission and dispatch network to cope with the Emirate's rising energy demands.

Mohammed Saleh, Director of FEWA, said the 270 mega-volt ampere and 132/33/11 kv station is part of the second phase of power station expansion plan in the northern parts of the UAE.

'Completed in 30 months, the new station will cater for the present and future developmental and industrial demands in the Emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain through 2021,' he added.

Within two months, he revealed, FEWA will launch the third phase of the electricity network expansion at a total cost of Dh1.5 billion.
