Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza received the CEO for GCC Electricity Interconnection Authority and a number of consultants working at the Unified European Grid chaired by Daniel Dobbeni, President of the Board of Directors of Euro Grid International. Dr. Abdul Hussain Mirza welcomed the officials at the Grid Authority and the consultants, where they reviewed the initiatives carried out by the Electricity Interconnection Authority to develop the energy trade market between the institutions and companies working within the GCC system. They also reviewed what has been achieved since the establishment of the Electricity Interconnection Grid and the successes attained since the activation of the Grid in July 2009, and the support it provided to the Gulf grids. Both sides also reviewed the importance of opening a market and enhancing energy trade between the GCC states, which will contribute to the provision of fuel and gas consumed in power generation and technical production, as well as reducing the costs of production and operating GCC electricity grinds, and attain competition in the prices of energy production and reducing electricity tariff. Dr. Mirza expressed his appreciation of all the efforts done by the officials at the Electricity Grid, and the importance of taking such initiative into consideration, which will lead to rationalizing the use of energy. Dr. Mirza directed the officials at the Electricity Interconnection Grid to prepare a working paper, where they submit the Authority’s initiatives in supporting energy trade between the GCC states to present them during the next meeting of the ministries concerned with electricity affairs in the GCC states, of which will be chaired by Kingdom of Bahrain, and will be held next September. The meeting was attended by Electricity and Water Authority’s CEO, Shaikh Nawaf Bin Ibrahim and a number of officials at the Authority.
