From the latest satellite imagery and observations, in addition to weather reports from the main regional centres, NCMS has announced that indications are that the tropical storm Ashobaa is currently centered at about 160 km from the South East coast of the Sultanate of Oman. The rainy clouds associated with the storm are 60 km from the coast of the Sultanate, and surface wind speeds are decreasing gradually around the centre of the storm, becoming 56 – 74 Km/hr.
The latest forecast weather charts indicate the movement of the tropical storm West-Southwesterly, with a probability of gradual weakening while approaching the coast of the Sultanate of Oman, accompanied by heavy rain and active winds over these areas.
The Sea of Oman will continue to be rough for the next two days along the east coasts of the UAE, low clouds will appear to the east and southern regions.
NCMS will keep monitoring the weather and issue updates when appropriate.
