Cairo - MENA

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry directed consular sector, Egyptian Ambassador to Khartoum Ossama Shaltout and Egyptian Consul in Port Sudan Hani Basyouni to contact the Sudanese authorities to release Egyptian fishermen who were detained earlier in August.

The Sudanese authorities have released 15 Egyptian fishermen who were abducted earlier, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Ambassador Hisham el Naqib said on Sunday.

Also, nine other Egyptian fishermen were released by the Tunisian authorities and returned home on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Naqib reiterated his warning to all Egyptian fishermen from infiltrating territorial waters of neighboring countries.

Earlier, Sudanese Minister of Justice Awad Al-Hassan Al-Nour has decided to cancel a criminal lawsuit against a number of Egyptian fishermen who illegally entered the Sudanese territorial waters in August aboard three boats
