Up to 450 public schools' students have taken part in recent clean-up of Sharq beach, said the Environmental Voluntary Foundation (EVF).
Walid Al-Fadhel, the foundation chairman, told KUNA the students took part in the activity as part of the nationwide campaign to clean the Kuwaiti shores, organized by the body in coordination with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
He praised the schools where students were encouraged to take part in the activity, noting such an approach is helpful to enhance public awareness of the necessity to preserve the environment.
The enthusiastic pupils did a good job lifting bulk of leftovers, abandoned waste and items littering the beach, Al-Fadhel said, affirming that the foundation is being engaged in "a true partnership" with the government schools for coordinating such useful campaigns.
The four-month clean-up campaign includes diverse entertaining and educating activities and programs.
