Kuwait Dive Team (KDT), affiliated to the Environmental Voluntary Foundation (EVF), on Saturday removed up to 80 tons of waste in east of Sulaibikhat coast in collaboration with Kuwait Municipality and Environment Public Authority.
The cleaning of east Sulaibikhat coast is one of the major environmental projects of Kuwait Dive Team, said the team's marine operations' officer Waleed Al-Shatti.
He lauded the government's cooperation with KDT volunteers to clean the marine environment from harmful waste such as plastic materials, tires and discarded fishing nets.
The environmental team will continue its work tomorrow to clear the entire coast, Al-Shatti pointed out.
He called on the beach-goers not to throw their waste in the Gulf waters as it damages marine environment. He also urged tougher sanctions against violators of environment protection laws.
