Environment Minister Tarek Al-Khatib met on Tuesday at his office in the Ministry with Poland's Ambassador to Lebanon Gesiatz Bozk in the presence of the minister's advisor Manal Moussallem with discussions reportedly featuring high on the protection of migatory birds.
Poland's Ambassador relayed best regards to the Minister from his Polish counterpart, adding that despite his knowledge that Lebanon is passing through a political crisis and has its priorities, he is here to discuss the issue of protecting the stork birds "which are migatory birds which migrates via the Lebanese skies."
He added that this bird is a symbol of happiness and prosperity in their country, asking to allow it to pass safely over Lebanon to return and reproduce in Poland.
In turn, the Environment Minister stressed that the hanting law in Lebanon prohibits hanting migratory birds which are protected internationaly, noting that the president of the republic Michel Aoun has the issue of protecting the migratory birds within his priorities.
The Ambassador invited the Environment Minister to visit his country , revieling that Poland's Foreign Affairs Minister will visit Lebanon next week.
