Dubai - Arab Today

The Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) has announced that the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will be the main sponsor of the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices, an annual knowledge-sharing platform held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Organized by The General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai, the forum will take place from 7-8 November at Dubai World Trade Centre.

DEWA has taken a leading role at this year’s forum. Over the years, DEWA has built a true and effective partnership with the Dubai Government Excellence Program by placing quality at the center of its corporate vision.

"We are proud to be the main sponsor of the Forum, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the government integration, and instill a culture of fruitful cooperation amongst the government entities. This contributes to the development of government services and performance," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"We were honoured by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai’s visit to DEWA’s stand. During the visit, DEWA reviewed the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model with a total planned capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030.

His Highness was briefed on the fourth phase of the solar park, which will cover the construction of a 700MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant. The project will feature the world’s tallest solar tower, which will be 260 metres tall, as well as the Shams Dubai initiative, which encourages home and building owners to install solar panels on rooftops to produce electricity from solar energy, and connect the surplus to DEWA’s grid, as well as the Shams Dubai Calculator, which is an innovative learning tool provided by DEWA to customers who wish to produce electricity using photovoltaic panels under the Shams Dubai initiative.

His Highness was also briefed on DEWA’s new headquarters, Al-Sheraa’, which will be the tallest, largest, and smartest zero energy government building in the world. It will also review DEWA’s latest experiences and best practices and services in the field of smart transformation, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics, and DEWA’s virtual employee, Rammas," added Al Tayer.

"The forum’s objectives are aligned with our vision in respect of excellence, and our continued endeavors to create an innovative and creative working environment, while getting inspired by the government best practices. This embodies the culture of excellence that we have at DEWA, with the support of the DGEP; our partner in success and achieving the highest levels of corporate performance. In continuation of its excellence journey, DEWA won a lot of excellence awards from DGEP awards’ different categories, in the last edition this year and the previous ones. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to achieve unprecedented levels of government excellence, as well as achieving stakeholders’ and community’s happiness," continued Al Tayer.

Al Tayer noted that DEWA is keen to effectively invest in the latest technologies, and get inspired by the government best practices in shaping the future, and achieving the sustainable development as per the environmental safety standards, and government excellence concepts.
