The First Vice - President of the Republic and National Prime Minister, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, received in his office at the Council of Ministers the Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity, Engineer Muttaz Musa, and got informed on the preparations of the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Water Resources for the coming summer season, especially concerning the supply and distribution of electricity power.
In a press statement, the minister said that the meeting also discussed the progress of work at Garri and Port-Sudan Electricity Power Station as well as the efforts of the ministry in the field of irrigation and the preparation for the winter season at the four national Schemes of Gezira, Managel, Suki, Rahad and New Halfa.
Engineer Muttaz said that he also informed the First Vice - President on operation of the second turbine for generating power at Setet and Upper Atbara Dams' project, indicating that the third turbine would be operated by the end of the coming two weeks.
The minister affirmed that Sudan will relinquish its share in the Nile water which was stipulated in the agreement of the yea 1959.
