Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced Tuesday that 2,287 encroachments were removed from the banks of the River Nile of a total of 50,399 violations.
This comes of a part of a national campaign to rescue the Nile launched by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Moghazi on January 5.
As many as 53 violations were removed within the past 24 hours in Cairo, Gharbia, Kafr el Shiekh, Beheira, Dakahlia, Sohag and Aswan, a statement of the ministry said.
