Budding chefs of the future have a perfect opportunity to learn new cooking skills from the experts during this year’s Abu Dhabi Food Festival, with a school for young masterchefs teaching the essence of Italian cuisine.
As part of Gourmet Abu Dhabi – just one course of this year’s annual food festival – Villa Toscana at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi will host interactive cooking classes under the expert tuition of the restaurant’s Chef de Cuisine, Chef Stefano Viola, accompanied by Chef Paulo.
"My passion for cooking was nurtured in the family kitchen by my mother at a very young age and it never left me. We shared wonderful times cooking traditional Italian food and I carry that on now with my son, Ricardo," said Chef Stefano.
"Gourmet Abu Dhabi is the perfect place to introduce and teach young people about the delights of cooking, presentation and taste. Italian food is known around the world and it is vital that the skills to prepare these fine, authentic dishes are passed down from generation to generation. These classes fit perfectly with the St. Regis tradition of offering our guests exclusive and memorable experiences." The young chefs will be tutored in the fine art of crafting authentic pizzas and pastas from Tuscany in Italy before savouring their creations. Parents will not be forgotten while their children are hard at work in the kitchen and will be treated to fine beverages and canapes in the restaurant’s Aperitivo lounge.
Titled ‘La Scuola di Cucina Per I Bambini’, the classes are aimed at 5 to 12-year-olds and will be held on February 17th and 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on both afternoons. Entry is AED 200++ per child inclusive of light dinner for children and beverages and canapes for one parent.
The inaugural Abu Dhabi Food Festival, consisting this year of Emirati Kitchen, Street Feast and Gourmet Abu Dhabi runs until February 21st and is presented by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
